CLASS SELECTION GUIDE:

If you participated in the program in 2007, you should have received a 2008 placement recommendation with your program brochure. If you did not receive this recommendation, or didn't sail in 2007 but have sailed in previous seasons, email us at pjyc@maine.rr.com and we'll look up the recommendation from your child's most recent season.

If you are new to the program, here's a basic placement guide:
  1. New sailors between 8-10 should sign up for Pram Sailing.
  2. New sailors who are 11 and are under 100 pounds should sign up for Pram Sailing.
  3. New sailors who are 11 and are at least 100 pounds can sign up for either Pram Sailing or Basic 420.
  4. New sailors 12 and up should sign up for Basic 420.
  5. Sailors who have experience in another junior sailing program should contact us at pjyc@maine.rr.com to discuss placement.
  6. Sailors without experience in another junior sailing program, but who have solo sailing experience in Pram-type or 420-type boats should contact us at pjyc@maine.rr.com to discuss placement.
  7. Sailors who's experience includes family day sailing or cruising only are considered new sailors, and should follow guidelines 1-4.
If you have any questions about placement, please contact us at pjyc@maine.rr.com.
